CMYK

We have decided to use CMYK as inspiration and also as a part our piece. CMYK represents the 4 different base colours used in the digital world such as Printers, Tv's etc Alone they stand as a single colour but when mixed together open up the whole colour spectrum. The potential the colours contain is unlocked by being mixed with another.

In essence the motion of mixing any or all of the colours together creates an event, a new colour. This fits perfectly with the term kinetic.

Using each of these solo colours to represent ourselves then takes the theory to a new level. We alone have a potential which can only be unlocked by mixing, in this case working, with others. Through group work a whole new spectrum of ideas and possibilities becomes available. This idea has now become the main focus of our piece.

The Bus

We have done movement drawings on various types of transport including bus, car, train and walking.  Here are some photos of us doing the movement drawings on the bus.  We sat upstairs at the back to aid from the extra shakes and movement of the bus in the traffic.  

We used varying pens and pencils to make different textural lines. 

It was interesting to see how each of our movement drawing were transcribed so differently, from person to person.

We thought this bike video by Sophie Clements was a very interesting way to look at kinetic and we liked how she involved sound and moving parts together.
